Finding fun (and family-friendly) ways to celebrate Halloween can be a challenge. Especially these days.
Remember how much talk there was last year about whether Halloween should even be allowed to happen?
It looks like that will be less of a worry this year.
Trick or treating is definitely on this year! And there are several Halloween events happening in the Mississippi Mills area:
Mississippi Mills Youth Centre’s Haunted House Fundraiser
Prepare to be scared! The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre has come up with some spine-chilling new scares for their 3rd Annual Haunted House Fundraiser.
Brave souls aged 7 and up are welcome to face their fears and walk through the haunted house. If they succeed, they will receive a loot bag. (And bonus loot will be offered to anyone in costume, so be sure to dress up).
The Haunted House is open on October 30th and 31st from 6:30-8:30 pm. Admission cost is made by donation at the door, but you will have to reserve your time slot in advance.
Waterside’s Haunted House
Just outside of Mississippi Mills, in the town of Carleton Place, sits a quaint retirement home full of scary sights!
On October 31st, from 2:00-4:00 pm, Waterside Retirement Community is transforming into a haunted house, complete with a pumpkin wall for taking photos to prove that you were brave enough to make it through.

Halloween Bus Smash
This one is for the grown-ups who need to let off some steam.
It’s a little ways outside of Mississippi Mills, but this was so unique that we wanted to include it in our list.
Ever heard of a Halloween Bus Smash before? Neither had we. That is, until now.
The Wreck Room and Vengeance Van are coming to Stittsville on October 31, and they are offering you a chance to be part of wrecking a bus. Grab some protective headgear and the tool or weapon of your choice (all provided) and then help shatter windows and break the bus. Pizza is provided for those who want it, and the Vengeance Van is available for use before the bus smash begins. Arrive at 12:30 for maximum smashing time.
There are also lots of spooky celebrations happening in Ottawa, for those who are willing to drive a bit farther.
